Maryam Nasiri aka Maria is an Iranian rock singer who emigrated from Iran to Germany because of her childhood dreams as a female singer. She started learning singing when she was in Iran, but due to the ban on female voices in Iran, she had to leave her home country. As an independent artist, she has released several single tracks, most of which are protest songs. She has also sung some songs related to the Women Life Freedom movement in Iran.
Maria has recently become better known in the Iranian community due to the first season of Voice of Persia.

Maryam Nasiri alias Maria ist eine iranische Rocksängerin, die wegen ihrer Kindheitsträume als Sängerin aus dem Iran nach Deutschland ausgewandert ist. Während ihres Aufenthalts im Iran begann sie Gesang zu lernen, musste jedoch aufgrund des Verbots weiblicher Stimmen im Iran ihr Heimatland verlassen. Als unabhängige Künstlerin hat sie mehrere Single-Tracks veröffentlicht, bei denen es sich größtenteils um Protestsongs handelt. Sie hat auch einige Lieder gesungen, die sich auf die Women Life Freedom-Bewegung im Iran beziehen.
Maria ist in der iranischen Community in letzter Zeit durch die erste Staffel von Voice of Persia bekannter geworden.
